ATHLETE: Amy Pierce
HOME: Providence, Rhode Island
OCCUPATION: Advertising Executive
AGE: 27

Amy Pierce is presently a resident of Providence, Rhode Island. While living in Tampa, Florida, Amy got involved in Fitness. Her love for working out, competitive spirit, and her main inspiration, Skylar (her best son and best friend) have made the WTF an important aspect in Amy's life.

She is an advertising executive by day and a personal trainer by night. During her high school years, Amy loved the sport of track. This is another reason the obstacle course was an attraction.

In 1999, Amy competed in her first WTF show in Tampa. It was at this show that Amy developed the fitness bug. She enjoyed being on stage and performing her routine; she loved the feeling of crossing the finish line on the course; most of all she loved the hugs Skylar always had for her when she finished. Amy went on to compete in the 2000 WTF World Challenge in Clearwater and the 2001 National Qualifier. With the help of her choreographer and friend Jennifer Rosen, Amy's placing went up at each event.

After moving to Rhode Island, Amy came back to Florida to compete in the 2002 WTF Nationals in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was at Beach Theater where Amy walked off with the FIRST PLACE TROPHY in the GRACE & PHYSIQUE ROUND. This gave Amy an early lead on her competition. During the Box Jump Fitness Event, Amy missed the box on her first jump thus causing cuts to both shins. As she was bleeding, Amy insisted on doing the Bench Press Event. Not only did she do it, she won it with 36 Repetitions while keeping both legs straight on the bench. After getting 12 stitches (6 in each leg) Amy went on the run the Obstacle Course and Shuttle Run. But, before her day was over, she took another FIRST PLACE TROPHY as she ran the second leg of the winning Shuttle Relay.

As she left the WTF Nationals, she not only won 2 First Place Awards, but she won the respect of all her fellow competitors and spectators; more important she earned a new nickname: Stitch
